Set in a rural Telangana village during the 1980s, Pottel tells the heart-wrenching story of Gangadhar, a humble shepherd belonging to an underprivileged community. Gangadhar is determined to provide a modern education for his young daughter, Saraswati, believing it to be the only way to break the cycle of caste-based oppression. His aspirations are violently challenged by the local village head, Patel, who maintains control through fear and ancient superstitions. When a sacred sheep intended for a 12-year ritual sacrifice goes missing under Gangadhar's watch, the situation turns into a nightmare, with the village head demanding his daughter as a substitute. The film is a raw portrayal of resilience against deep-seated social injustices.
