The picture
Based on the popular Indian play Abhijnana Shakuntalam by Kalidasa, this mythological drama tells the epic love story of Shakuntala, the daughter of Sage Vishwamitra and Menaka, and King Dushyanta. After falling in love and marrying in a secret ceremony, Dushyanta must return to his kingdom, leaving Shakuntala with his royal ring as a token. However, due to a sage's curse, the King loses his memory of her. The film follows Shakuntala's journey through grief, the birth of her son Bharata, and the eventual miraculous reunion with her husband when the lost ring is recovered.
