Sumo is a unique sports comedy-drama directed by S. P. Hosimin and scripted by the actor Shiva. The story revolves around Shiva, a laid-back surfer in Chennai, who discovers a Japanese sumo wrestler washed ashore. The wrestler, who is mentally impaired and behaves like a child, is taken in by Shiva and his friend Jack. Shiva eventually realizes the man is a missing champion named Tashiro and decides to travel to Japan to help him regain his memory and honor. The film blends slapstick humor with a heartfelt exploration of cross-cultural friendship and the spirit of competitive sumo wrestling.
