During the Pandavas' exile, Lord Krishna's brother Balarama decides to marry his daughter Sasirekha to the son of Duryodhana, breaking a childhood promise to Arjuna's son, Abhimanyu. To ensure the lovers are united, Lord Krishna enlists the help of Ghatotkacha, the son of Bhima. Ghatotkacha uses his powerful magic to kidnap Sasirekha and take her form, creating a massive 'Mayabazar' (Market of Illusions) to trick the Kauravas. The film is a technical masterpiece of Indian cinema, famous for its 'trick photography', stellar ensemble cast, and musical score. It remains one of the most celebrated and highly-voted films in the history of Indian mythological cinema.
